Pueblo Heritage: The Anasazi, Hopi, Zuni and Chaco Canyon
April 6, 2008

This was an excellent trip. The guide and organizing group, North Arizona University, were very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. We spent two days out of Flagstaff, visiting Walnut Canyon, seeing our first cliff dwellings and ancient houses. The walk down into the Canyon was closed because of a rock fall, but we could see dwellings very well from the top, plus touring some ruins on the rim.
We spent four days out of Gallup NM, visiting a Hopi village on top of a mesa one day, visiting a Zuni village another day, including a Visitor Center/Museum, tour of the Pueblo church with magnificant murals, and lunch in the home of a local Zuni family. The third day was spent in Chaco Canyon, touring Pueblo Bonito, Casa Rinconada and Chetro Ketl, three of the larger ruins there.
There were films or lectures several nights, but we got plenty of sleep. The entire trip was fun, educational, interesting, and a little challenging. It was the type of trip you remember because you learned and understand a little more about the Anasazi. I highly recommend it.
