Synopsis 
Enter the modern and cozy Northern Arizona University Computer Training Center where the instructor and lab aides will patiently teach you new skills and turn you on to cutting edge technology. All of this takes place, of course, beneath the incredible beauty of Arizona's San Francisco Peaks.
Here you will be a short journey from many of America's greatest treasures. Go from mouse to master, take in the scenery and learn something exciting today. Below is a list of our current offerings.

Course Descriptions

Beginning Computers: The Internet, Windows, Word Processing, E-mail #1055 (4 nights)

This hands-on course is your comprehensive introduction to the world of computers. Get comfortable and gain proficiency using the Internet, Windows, and basic word processing techniques. With help from our experts, learn to send/receive E-mail to friends and relatives. Uncover basic information about digital cameras, scanners and personal digital assistants and download pictures and text for letters and cards. Explore the creation and management of files using Windows and Word. Gain the knowledge to buy or upgrade your computer. Recommended for beginners or as a refresher. Personal Pentium IV computer for each participant. Lab aides assist hostelers and instructor during class and open lab sessions.

Note: Includes three full days in the Computer Training Center located in the new College of Business at Northern Arizona University (on the NAU campus and just 1/4 mile from hotel; shuttle available)and evening lab time.

Digital Photography and Adobe Photoshop Elements # 7868 (4 nights)
Explore the tools and techniques used by professional photographers to create visually stunning images. With a combination of hands-on computer instruction, in-class projects and a photography excursion, you'll optimize your photos in our state-of-the-art computer training facility. Your instructor and lab aids can work with a broad range of computer abilities, however some basic computer skills are necessary in order to get the most out of this program. You'll work with Adobe Photoshop Elements to refine and correct your photos as well as prepare them for email, greeting cards, enlargements, and web pages. Receive the latest tips for selecting, purchasing and using digital photography equipment.

Note: Participants are encouraged to bring their personal digital cameras if they have one. The program will have cameras for share for those that do not. Includes 3 full days in the Computer Training Center located in the new College of Business at Northern Arizona University (on the NAU campus and just 1/4 mile from hotel; shuttle available) and evening lab time. 


Digital Photography in the Field & Adobe Photoshop Elements, Beginner Level #15468

NEW this fall
Capture some of the most photogenic sites in the Southwest including Grand Canyon and the San Francisco Peaks then utilize PhotoShop Elements to create visually stunning images. Spend 2 days in the field with a professional photographer learning/honing your skills (incl. composition, lighting/exposure, wide angle/close up, flash).With hands-on instruction and in-class projects, optimize your photos in our state-of-the-art computer training facility. Previous computer skill, proficiency with Windows and creating files/folders are a must! Use Adobe PhotoShop Elements to refine/correct your photos to prepare them for email/greeting cards/enlargements/web pages. Create a photo CD/slide show by week’s end to share with fellow classmates.

Bring your digital camera, manual and memory card. Course includes two full days in the Computer Training Center located in the new College of Business at Northern Arizona University (on the NAU campus and just 1/4 mile from hotel; shuttle available) and evening computer lab time. Student lab aides assist during lab time.

Digital Photography In The Field And Adobe Photoshop Elements - Intermediate Level #15469

NEW this fall
Master the computer techniques used by professionals to create visually stunning images. This course combines a photo shoot to the Sunset Crater/San Francisco Peaks volcanic field, hands-on instruction by a professional photographer, and in-class computer use in our state-of-the-art Computer Training Center. Work with Adobe Photoshop Elements software and your photo images in the “digital darkroom” to make the transition to technically and artistically beautiful images. Apply layering, sharpening, and repair techniques to create your final polished images transferable to CD, e-mail, printer or slideshow format. This program is designed for experienced users of Photoshop Elements with strong computer skills and proficiency with Windows.

This class builds on Adobe Photoshop course #7868 featured above. Intermediate Photoshop Elements is designed for the experienced digital photographer who is looking to explore the advanced applications of Photoshop Elements imaging tools. Bring your digital camera, manual and memory card. Course includes a photo field trip day and two full days in the Computer Training Center located in the new College of Business at Northern Arizona University (on the NAU campus and just 1/4 mile from hotel; shuttle available) including evening computer lab time. Student lab aides assist during all lab sessions.

Web Page Design # 8720 (4 nights)
Explore the tools and techniques used to create and build your own website. With a combination of hands-on instruction and in-class projects, learn about and practice your web design skills. The class covers basic web design principles; provides an overview of today's most popular software packages and gives you the skills to craft your own webpage and post it to a web server. Explore differences between Dreamweaver, Fireworks, FrontPage and free downloadable programs. The instructor will supply useful links and resources so you can perfect your webpage at home. Instructor/lab aides work with a broad range of computer abilities, however, basic computer skills and proficiency with Windows and creating files/folders is absolutely necessary.

Accommodations
Modern hotel with private bath, outdoor pool, and spa. Conveniently located 1/4 mile from the Computer Training Center and the campus of NAU in Flagstaff.  A shuttle is provided from the hotel to the classroom for those who desire.
