Color Country National Parks:
Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon North Rim

# 11573

Detailed itinerary, dates & price
Photo Album

"We have just returned from the NAU elder hostel trip of GCs: Northern Rim,  Zion and Bryce with your field coordinators Jeff Strang and Joanna Joseph and found it the one of the best trips we have ever taken. We have taken over 100 trips--some Elder Hostel, some with tourist organizations, and others on our own. Not only were the landscapes magnificent and the trip well organized, but  the two coordinators and the bus driver, Ray Coin were so well informed, communicated with pleasure, and were considerate and caring, that we will never forget this wonderful trip. Please do thank Jeff, Joanna, and Ray for their work."
Sincerely,
Nancy B. Reich and Maurice M. Rapport

Synopsis
Surround yourself with the beauty of the Southwest's three premier National Parks: Zion and Bryce Canyons of southern Utah and the little visited North Rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. In this unique seven night program we'll immerse ourselves in the geology, ecology and human history of this fascinating landscape, from the 2000 ft. vertical walls of Zion Canyon, to the magical rock sculptures of Bryce, and finally to the majesty of a Grand Canyon sunset. This program has never a dull moment as the journey is nearly as fun as the destination.

Course Description
The Colorado Plateau contains more National Parks than any region in the US. Travel to its heart with experienced field guides as you learn the story of its dynamic geologic past. From continental collisions to earthquakes and finally to the erosive power of wind and water, discover the forces that created these awe-inspiring canyons. Where the West is still wild, learn the fascinating stories of the people who have explored and settled these canyons, from Native Americans, Mormon settlers, and John Wesley Powell, to early tourists brought by the railroads, to those who live here today. Come experience this intriguing piece of the American story.
